Hep C is a blood born virus that until now, had not been considered as a sexually transmissible disease by many sexual health organisations. Until now, the majority of people contracting hep c had done so by not following safe injecting protocols when taking drugs.

With 13% of the HIV+ population also being co-infected with Hepatitis C, the recent additional 39 cases in Victoria has universally shocked the sexual health sector.
